The Hidden Art of Bookplates will take place December 4th at the E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center at 10 a.m. as a part of their history enrichment classes.
Bookplates are decorative labels placed in the front of a book with the name of the book’s owner.
Although not as common today, they tell a story of their own.
Jessica Jenkins, Curator at the Minnetrista Cultural Center will present 10 bookplates as an art form from Minnetrista’s collection.
These bookplates originate from the early 20th century from different parts of the world.
“We have a few bookplates that came from the Ball family in addition to a handful of examples pasted in rare books. They come from outside sources in addition to the Minnetrista collection,” Jenkins said.
There is no charge to get into the event, but reservations are required.
