From 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, Muncie locals can stop by Cornerstone Center for Arts to see the newly renovated Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery, along with its new exhibit “Studies In Isolation” by Shannon Mehaffey.

The exhibit is a mixed media series and depicts landscapes, abandoned buildings, factories, blight and power lines. Each serve as metaphors for loss, grief, enduring hardships and surviving, according to a press release.

Mehaffey is a Muncie artist, who also teaches watercolor painting and mixed media arts at Cornerstone. Her work, according to the release, incorporates collage, photography, watercolor painting and drawing. A lot of concepts in the work are derived from personal histories of growth, redemption, feminism, survivorship and grief.

“Studies in Isolation” will be on display throughout November.
