The tradition, dating back to 1936 has brought together the community young and old to perform Christmas music for each other. This year, the show will feature the Muncie Central High School’s color guard, dual language students and school bands.
“It’s just an amazing event,” said Sarah Foster, a Ball State student who has participated and attended the event. “It’s a unique experience and has helped me feel more at home in Muncie.”
The lineup for the event also boasts Magic City Music Men, the local chapter from the Barbershop Harmony Society; Cole Academy, a professional gymnastics company and Urban Light, a local church.
Originally, the event was supposed to be held by Muncie Community Schools but was cancelled due to storm damage. Ball State picked up the event with the venue being Emens Auditorium, but due to demand, it was moved to Worthen.
“For the past 100 years, Ball State has been a strong partner with the Muncie community, and it continues today through our ‘Better Together’ initiative. We believe the University and community are better when we work together,” says Marc Ransford, Senior Media Strategist for Marketing and Communications at Ball State.
The event takes place at 2:45p.m. this Sunday. Tickets are free to the general public and transportation to the event will be provided from Southside and Southview Schools at 1:45p.m.
